2016 has been an interesting year for the world. In many ways a horrible year with the passing of so many great artistic legends set against a tumultuous (and at times downright bizarre) year of political disruption and conflict. It seems we have all felt the strain of 2016. However, in contrast to the stark reality of 2016 our world of Pallas Pictures, short films, and story-telling has been fantastic. And what’s more it is even finishing with our biggest bang yet.

2016 began with the release of our Quentin Tarantino-inspired one shot film Dogs of Pulp, which saw yet more people join Pallas Pictures and work alongside director Charles Willcocks. The script from Ryan Lewis was brought to life brilliantly by the four young actors and feedback for the film was fantastic.

In February 2016 we made our first documentary short film The Art of Escapism about UK Bamboo Tattoo Artist Tarly Marr. The film was picked up and watched by Tattoo and film fans all over the world. What’s more the film received fantastic coverage in the Tattoo Industry Media. Jack Homan’s camera work was fantastic and Director Charles Willcock’s  brought Tarly Marr’s story to life, editing the film brilliantly. Pallas Co-Founder Ryan Lewis showed his dedication to the cause by getting his first tattoo done on film.

Attention then tuned to finalising Tergo for release and our first film with a CG character. A labour of love for Writer Director Charles Willcocks, Tergo was released in July 2016 and the response, the feedback, the press coverage, the festival inclusions have all been amazing. People all over the world have fallen in love with Charles’ Robot Creation and he has broken hearts wherever he has been watched. Tergo was covered in both 3D Artist as well as 3D world, online, local press and even in Cantonese. In November Tergo was shown at the State Festival in Berlin. And the year is ending with the fantastic news that Tergo has been shortlisted in the Short Film Category at the ROS Film Festival in Barcelona. You can vote online here for Tergo.

In the final few months of 2016 work has begun in earnest for our next short film, Harvest. A rural horror set in Yorkshire, which will include our second CG creation following Tergo.
